Why Minimalist Wines

I remember speaking to Sam Lambson, the founder of Minimalist, about 7 years ago. We spoke a lot about his ideas for Minimalist and, a couple of years later, he shared some of his wines with me - award winning, of course. I wasn't privy to the secrets that Syrah (or Shiraz) held. Like all varietals, the place where it's grown is evident in the wine. Minimalist is very intentional with where and how it sources so they can preserve this - from the women who pick the grapes to the minimal-intervention approach in the cellar.

Surprisingly, me and Olivia went on to start a business in the wine space in early 2020 (which Covid put an end to). I've tasted more wines and completed my WSET Level 2 & 3. I'm now much more appreciative of wine, how phenomenal a great wine is and what it takes to get there.

A cellar in the city

When I heard that Minimalist was opening their cellar in the city a couple of years ago, I knew this was somewhere I'd have to go back to. Everything Sam touches is extremely well done and he has incredible taste. So the choice of the evening's venue is something that sits close to me. The Frankie Fenner 'braai' style evening is as close to me, because it's Frankie Fenner biltong that we used to absolutely demolish when I was in high school. Of course.

WildPlanner 2027 Plans

We're really excited for this evening and we'll also be sharing our new developments for 2027 on the WildPlanner product - we've spent this year listening to a range of different problems operators face and our new features are focused on solving this. Mostly, we're looking forward to the conversations, the people we host around the table, incredible food & the wine.
